Tennis Clubmark
In October 2009 the Club achieved a historic milestone: the award of LTA Tennis Clubmark. This was due to a lot of hard work by club members, ably supported by the team at Tennis Shropshire - thanks to all concerned.
Juniors
Our U18 and U14 boys teams are to be congratulated on winning the
final of the division 2 of the National Club League. The matches were played on Sunday 4 October and Monday 5 October at
Welti.
Jack Davies and Sam Price won the U18 event and Liam Middleton and Christian Hine the U14 event.
Social Events and Fundraising Activities
The first social event of the season was a quiz held on Friday 24 April at High Ercall Village Hall.
A tabletop sale was held on Saturday 13 June and raised £300 for club funds.
The Captains' Night tournament was held on Wednesday 15 July. The weather was fine and the many players who turned out, including some new faces, were able to sit outside all evening. Jo Lawson organised the tournament, which was won by the Ladies Captain's team, and afterwards everyone stayed on to socialise in the clubhouse, with refreshments provided by the Club. The success of the evening suggested that a similar event, a husband/wife/family relation handicap tournament, should be held in late September or early October.
The annual Club tournament was held over the weekend of 19/20 September. After two days of intense competition everyone enjoyed a barbecue and then the winners of the Club tournament and various other competions were presented with their trophies by the Club chairman, Anita Bruckshaw.
On the following Wednesday the Club held a handicap family tournament.
